Dr Barry Patel

Dentist

Dr Barry Patel graduated from Otago University, Dunedin, New Zealand in 1979. He immediately then flew over to Australia begin working in as a dentist here. He setup his first clinic in 1982 in the heart of Kew. In 1995, he established his second clinic in Brunswick West. He then went on to graduate from the world renowned Pankey Institute for advanced Dental Education.

The clinics in Kew and Brunswick West became well known, both amongst dental colleagues and patients, as The Dental Emergency Clinic that treated patients 24 hours, 365 days a year. This was due to his strong work ethic and moral responsibility to both his patients and his colleagues. Indeed, many practices referred patients to Dr Patel over the weekends, public holidays and Christmas periods due to this.

Barry received his Masters in Implantology from Temple University, Michigan, USA. This Masters course was taught by one of the earliest pioneers of Implantology, Dr Carl Misch. Barry has been trained by other big names in the USA, including Michael Pikos (oral surgeon) and is an alumni of the Pikos Institute, and alos Pat Allen (periodontist) in both advanced oral surgery and soft tissue grafting procedures. In recognition of his training and level of expertise, Barry has been recognised by the ICOI (International Congress of Oral Implantology) as a Fellow and by the International Academy of Dental Implants (IADI) as a Diplomate of Implantology.

Dr Anyda Steins

Dentist

Anyda was born in South Africa and moved to New Zealand at 17. She has always had a thirst for adventure and loves to go hiking, walking an exploring. Her love for adventure started when she was growing up in Africa when the family took trips to game reserves in the Eastern Transvaal, and remote bush walks in the Cape. Anyda loves to study and from an early age had an interest in biology, science and the arts.

Anyda loves music and culture which is one of the reasons she’s chosen to stay in Melbourne.

After moving to New Zealand from South Africa, Dr Anyda Stein entered and graduated from Otago University with a dental degree and Second Class Honours in 2000.

After 20 years of working as a dentist one of her patients nicknamed her the ‘Tooth-nerd’ because she was born to work as a dentist. This nickname describes Anyda’s outlook on her working life. She has an eye for detail and focuses on the broader picture when looking after her patients.

Anyda places high value on completing comprehensive exams and troubleshooting dental problems, and creating a dental plan, walking them through it from start to finish. She is a member of the Dawson Academy that was founded in the United States by Dr Pete Dawson.

The Dawson Academy has had a phenomenal impact on Dr Anyda. She has a holistic approach and agrees that dentistry is to be her greatest hobby, not just to be a ‘tooth doctor’, but to look at the big picture and help solve complex problems for patients in conjunction with having a multi disciplinary approach involving the right specialists, and a team approach.
